“…proximity still counts for something, even in the
networked age.” ~Rainie & Wellman in Networked,

In this post I would like to discuss my country: Indonesia.
I was thinking that I would likely to give some examples from events or
situations that I feel is relevant and personally related to my daily Web 2.0
experience. Thus, to provide some context to the readers, I would like to
briefly illustrate the situation.
Indonesia is located in Southeast Asia, straddling the
equator between Asia and Australia, and between the Pacific and Indian Oceans
as well. It is the largest archipelagic country in the world, comprising
17,508 islands, although only 6,000 are inhabited. Indonesia is the fourth most
populous country in the world, home to more than 240 million people in 2012.
More than eighty-seven percent of its population is Muslim, making Indonesia
the largest Muslim country in the world. The nation is highly diverse, however,
having more than 300 ethnic groups and speaking in more than 700 ethnic
languages and dialects. ( Excerpted from: http://www.indonesia-dhaka.org/indonesia-in-brief/)
As for Web 2.0 and social networking activities, this 3
minutes video summarizes all important facts and statistics nicely and covers
the three revolutions (social media, internet, and mobile) Rainie and Wellman
talked about. Hope you enjoy it!
Thank you so much for sharing! Such an interesting video.
